Week 73--Bel Air, Guyana

Week 1--Elder McMillan

Hello family,

I had a really great week this week. That package got here really fast! I loved it! It had just what I needed. Thank you so much for sending it to me! I also liked the Jesus picture you put on it.

We are doing great in Bel Air. We were able to have a great week even though we were doing some transfers. We also had a baptism on Saturday for Ronaldo. It took a lot for his work to let him go that day to be baptized. Unfortunately, because of that, they would not let him leave at all on Sunday, so he didn't get to be confirmed yet, but he has a plan for next Sunday, and he will be there.

I really enjoy being with Elder McMillan. He is a fantastic missionary, and he is very, very good with time management. I really enjoy that, and I have already learned a lot from him.

I have a testimony of the Holy Ghost. I know that Heavenly Father sends him to answer us when we pray. We had a cool experience when we followed up with a young man we are teaching. We asked him if he had prayed about the Book of Mormon. He said that he had, and we asked him if he had felt an answer, and he said, "I felt a burning in my heart." He knew it was true, and that answer was his. I know that those answers come from God, and they are there to help us to have our own testimonies.

A spiritual experience I had this week was being able to baptize Ronaldo. I have never done that ordinance before, and it was just a great experience to be able to perform that for him. After his baptism, when he got up to bear his testimony, he talked about how excited he is to be able to start his mission. When we were filling out his baptismal record, I found out that he is only 9 days younger than me. That was also just a really neat experience, and I am so grateful to be here.

Well, I'm excited for you all to have Christmas over there. I am not exactly sure what time we will be able to Skype, but now we get 45 minutes to do it, so it's pretty sweet. I love all of you so much. Have a great week!

Love,

 Elder Hanni

Week 72--Bel Air, Guyana

Week 6--Elder Buxton

Hello family,

This week has been a great week. We got transfers, and Elder Buxton is going to Curacao. My new companion is Elder McMillan. I'll be with him by Wednesday night.

We are doing great in Bel Air. We were able to have the baptism of Sarika and Attish this past Saturday. It was also the baptism of Sister Pamela from Garden Park, so that was sweet! It was wonderful, and we should be having baptisms in the next few weeks as well. There are just some really prepared people right now, and it's wonderful to be able to serve them.

Elder Buxton has been a great companion. He has really helped me to grow, and I feel more confident now in the assignment that I have. I am excited to serve with Elder McMillan this next transfer.

I have a testimony of having the vision. There are some members here who are really getting a vision of what Guyana could become. I know that with that vision, they will be able to build the kingdom here so that soon there can be stakes and a temple here. I know that with a vision, we can accomplish a lot of good here in Guyana. I love being able to be part of this wonderful work, and I know that it is hastening.

A spiritual experience I had this week was at the baptism of Sarika and Attish. We have been teaching their whole family, but because of the dad's work, he hasn't been able to come to church or anything yet, but on the morning of the baptism, he went to his work and asked them for an hour off so that he could go see his kids make that step to be baptized. He made it, and he was there to support his children making that wonderful step to make covenants with God. I felt the Spirit just to see the whole family there.

I love all of you so much! Keep sending me snow. None of it has gotten here yet, but just keep trying!

 Love,
 Elder Hanni

Week 71--Bel Air, Guyana

Week 5--Elder Buxton

Hello family,

I had a great week this week. We had zone conference this week, and I was able to find out that someone I had taught in Bath just got baptized! I was so excited to hear that.

We are doing great in Bel Air. We are planning on having the baptism of two of the children of the family we found earlier this transfer. They are excited, and we are very grateful to be able to be a part of their process of joining Jesus Christ's church.

Elder Buxton and I are doing great. He is really helping me to become better, and I am very grateful for that. I am grateful for his example. I feel good about the work we are doing. I feel like we are working in unity.

I have a testimony of our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson. Being able to watch the Christmas devotional was a great blessing for me. I was very grateful for his invitation to consider our own desires this Christmas season. I was also grateful for his blessing to us that we might have the desire and ability to accept all gifts from the Savior.

A spiritual experience this week was in following up with some investigators we haven't been able to see in a while. When we went there, we followed up with if they had read the assignment we had left with them, and the three of them were able to basically teach us the Restoration through the prophet Joseph Smith. They remembered so much of it, and it was just a testimony to me of how important it is to keep commitments. After teaching them that day, we were able to invite them to prepare themselves to be baptized in January. They accepted. That was a huge blessing this week!
I love all of you so much. I hope you have a great week!

Love,
 Elder Hanni

Week 70--Bel Air, Guyana

Week 4--Elder Buxton

Hello family,

This week was a great week. We had Thanksgiving with all of the missionaries in the Georgetown zones. The senior couples did an amazing job. I was so full that day. I was also able to have an interview with President Baird. I love having interviews with him.

We are currently doing our very best to prepare four of our investigators for baptism on the 8th of December. We are using our time as best as we can to help them to reach that goal. We have been meeting some really cool people as we have been contacting in our contact area. We are really grateful to be constantly meeting new people.

Elder Buxton and I are doing great. We are still getting along great, and I enjoy all that I am learning from him.

I have a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel and this church. There was an investigator that we were teaching this week, and he was sharing some experiences from his life, and my favorite one that he shared was when he first came and visited this church. He said, "After I came here, I felt like home. When I got to the door, it felt like a hug. I felt like Jesus was giving me a hug and saying, 'Welcome, my brother.'" I know that those feelings he felt were real, and he hasn't felt them anywhere else. It was a further confirmation to me of what I feel about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the His church.

A spiritual experience I had this week was on Saturday at the YSA and returned missionary fireside. Afterwards, I was talking to a member from the first branch I served in, and he informed me that someone that I had taught in Bath just got baptized. It blew my mind because when we were teaching here, she just seemed too busy for everything, and she really didn't seem that interested. But it was a spiritual experience because it showed me that you never really know who the Lord has prepared to receive His gospel. I'm grateful that after her husband and daughter chose to be baptized, she was finally able to make that choice to be baptized.

I love all of you so much. I hope that you have a great week. Congratulations, Payton, on receiving your patriarchal blessing. Treasure it!

Love,
 Elder Hanni
