Week 12--Elder Ortega
Hello family,
We had a great week. It's the end of another transfer, and Elder Ortega and I are staying together for a third transfer. It's kind of weird not changing companions so frequently anymore, but it's kind of nice too.
Garden Park is great. Elder Ortega and I are excited to be here another transfer. We have been really excited to meet some referrals and new people this week. It has been so fun just to talk about the gospel with everyone that we meet.
I really like serving with Elder Ortega, and I'm excited to be with him for another transfer. He has really helped me to become better as a missionary, and I'm excited for the chance to learn more from him this transfer.
I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Yesterday, I was reading from Alma 17, and I was just really enjoying the story of Ammon. When I got to the end of it, I was wondering what I could write down as my theme from my scripture study for the day. Then, I saw verse 31 again, and I read it in a different way, as if the Lord were speaking to me. It said, "My brethren, be of good cheer and let us go in search of the flocks, and we will gather them together and bring them back unto the place of water; and thus we will preserve the flocks unto the king." When I read it like that, I realized that that was the Lord's invitation for us to go and work with Him in His vineyard (Jacob 5:72). We have the wonderful opportunity to help Him bring His flocks back to the living waters so that they may return to our Father in Heaven. I know that that is true and that we have such a divine work to do.
One spiritual experience I had this week was at church. We have some investigators that come together to church. One of them just got surgery on his leg, so he is in a lot of pain every day, and on Sunday, he wasn't really sure if he was going to come to church. We have another investigator who has a car, and he also woke up with some pain, and he considered staying home as well. But then he knew that he couldn't make excuses, especially as he is preparing himself for baptism, so he got up and got his family ready, and he drove to the investigator who's leg just got surgery and helped him to come to church as well. It is so nice to know that these investigators that we are teaching help each other to progress and prepare themselves for baptism, and I know that this gospel is blessing them so much. They are coming to church because of the happiness they receive.
Wow, I can't believe you are already moving to Wyoming. Next week will be your last, I guess. That's pretty crazy. I'm just glad you have a dog to go with you now. Tell Ellie hi from me. I love all of you so much, and I hope you have a great week this week!

Week 47--Garden Park, Georgetown, Guyana
Week 11-- Elder Ortega
Hello Family
We had a little bump in our week when Elder Ortega went to Trinidad for a day, but other than that, we were working hard in our area. We were very happy to be able to start teaching and following up with more people in our contact area.
Elder Ortega and I are doing great. We learn more and more about each other every day, and we are very unified in what we do as missionaries. We want to work with all we have in this area, and we are doing our best to individually help each of our investigators and members here.
I have a testimony of the joy of the gospel. There are a lot of things out there that can distract us or make us think like we can find happiness in something else, but I know that the gospel is the only way to be truly happy in this life. A man told us yesterday in a first lesson, "I know that Jesus is the only way." I was so grateful when he said that, and the Spirit confirmed to me that that is true. I know He is giving us the only opportunity to come back to our Heavenly Father, and that is why this message is so important.
A spiritual experience I had this week was when we were able to give a blessing to one of the investigators we are teaching here in Garden Park. She has been having her legs keeps swelling up for no reason for the past little while, and last week, I felt the prompting to give her a blessing, but I ignored it. This week, when we went by, she was still suffering with it, and I knew I could not ignore it this time. She has some of the greatest understanding of the Restoration I've ever seen, and when we talked about the Priesthood, she immediately knew that she could be healed. We were able to give her a blessing, and afterwards, she said, "I am so grateful I got a blessing from God. It's real." Yesterday, we went by, and she proudly showed us how well her legs are doing now. I'm so grateful for the priesthood and for the gift of the Holy Ghost. Without them, this work would not go forward.

Week 46--Garden Park, Georgetown, Guyana
Week 10--Elder Ortega
Hello family,
We had a great week this week in Garden Park. We were able to go with more members this week, and that was really nice. Only one of our investigators was able to come to church because everyone else got sick and vehicle problems and everything, but it was really comforting when we heard that one of our members went and visited some of those investigators who didn't come. I'm really glad that the members in our branch really care about those we are teaching. It will help them as they are baptized to be able to feel the love of the branch.
Elder Ortega and I are doing great. We become more and more unified every week. I'm so excited for him to be able to go to Trinidad for a day this week to be able to get his patriarchal blessing. He is so excited, and I'm excited for him especially since we understand more about the gathering of Israel now.
I have a testimony of the importance of faith. On Saturday, I was able to learn that from two of the people we are teaching. One of them is a recent convert, and by her faith she was able to be completely healed when we gave her a blessing. She was so excited to talk about faith that lesson because of that. She said, "Believe and have faith, and it works." Another person we teach told us that she has faith that she and her husband can be married on the 29th so that they can be baptized on the 30th of June. She doesn't know how everything is going to play out, but she said that she is going to move forward with faith and that no matter what the circumstances are, she will be married and baptized at those times. I loved hearing those answers, and those were testimonies to me from the Holy Ghost of how important it is to have faith.
My spiritual experience this week was being able to go teaching with our branch president. He is doing so well as branch president, and he is doing more and more things to magnify his calling. On Saturday, he went with us to see Sister Nichola, a recent convert, and during the lesson, she really enjoyed having him there with us. He brought the Spirit with him, and she really felt that he cared for her. He was also going with us to see some of our investigators who normally come to church. They fell through, but it was so nice to be able to have him with us. He really is helping the members in this branch feel that he loves them, and he is making a big difference. That was a really nice spiritual experience for me this week.
I'm super excited that you were able to get a house. It looks long, and it also looks nice. That is a big tree in the yard! I'm excited to see the place that I'll come home to. I hope everything goes great this week, and I hope that the packing and everything works out nicely. Always remember to pray that all of Heavenly Father's children can receive the blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They need it!

Week 45-- Garden Park, Georgetown, Guyana
Week 9-- Elder Ortega
Hello family,
I had a great week this week. It was really cool because our district was able to help 29 people come to church between two branches. Members are what make the difference. That was really cool this week.
Garden Park is doing very well. We had our branch's sacrament meeting start at 9:00 instead of after the other two blocks. Everyone was pretty worried that no one would show up that early, but we actually had a lot of people come out to church, so it was really good that the change was well announced. That was really nice to see everyone there.
Elder Ortega and I are doing great. We are able to teach very well together, and we are doing our best to teach according to the needs of our investigators. We have been planning in that way, and I feel good that we are really striving to teach them in the way that the Lord would have us teach them.
I have a testimony that Heavenly Father wants all the members of this church to do missionary work. We had a really cool experience when we invited someone to go teaching with us that we normally don't ask to go with us. As we did that, that member was able to be such a great help in the lesson that those investigators really felt a desire to come to church, and they did come to church. After that lesson, the member felt a prompting to give us a referral. It was such a nice experience, and I know that as we invite more and more members to come with us, they will feel the joy of sharing the gospel and have a desire to keep sharing it.
A simple spiritual experience I had yesterday after church was going to the home of two of our investigators with a baptismal date. There were also two of our other investigators with a baptismal date there as well. When we got there, we saw them gathered together, and they were reading the Book of Mormon together and discussing it with each other so that they all could receive a good understanding of what they were reading. That was a spiritual experience for me because it was so amazing to see that the Book of Mormon means a lot to them. On the Sabbath, instead of doing something else, they gathered together and read. That was a great example to me of the way the Lord wants us to make the Sabbath a delight.
I'm really glad that all of you will be busy with some fun things this week. Payton, you enjoy yourself at Aaron's Camp. That was always my favorite camp. Grace, you do your theatre thing, and Cooper, you have fun playing basketball. Dad, I hope everything goes well with in-processing and training and everything. Mom, I hope the packing and everything is still fun.
