Week 9--Bath, Guyana

Week 3--Elder Bigler

Howdy there,

This week has been really good. We have an investigator name Shalinie who is amazing. She is so prepared to receive the gospel. She has prayed about Joseph Smith, she has prayed about the Book of Mormon, and she knows that they are true. When we asked her if she knew if the Church was true, she said, "Deep down in my heart, I know it's true." She has a baptismal date for the 25th of November, and we are really excited for her. I found a cross-eyed cat, and I had to take a picture . It is hilarious. We also took some pictures in front of the Pink Palace, and our district activity this transfer was playing fruit ninja with a cutlass. It was awesome. We have had some rain and some winds here this week that took roofs off, and it blew one person's home right off its stilts, so it made me glad that Guyana doesn't get Hurricanes because nothing would be left. We were able to help those people a little bit with their houses this week. All of those things happened right by our apartment, but we were perfectly fine. Thank goodness for that. It has been a great week here, and I am really excited for this week. I hope everyone is safe and well, and I'll see you next week.

Week 8--Bath, Guyana

Week 2-- Elder Bigler

Hello Folks,

This week was a good week. Our toilet got fixed after a week of waiting, our water pressure fixed itself, and we haven't locked ourselves out yet, so we are doing pretty good. We have this really cool investigator named Alicia who is really poor and can only really afford to send her son to school every day. We've only been over to teach her twice, and we knew that she couldn't really afford to catch travel to come to church, but yesterday, she came to church with her son and stayed the whole time! That was really amazing to see that she was willing to make that sacrifice to come to church. I can tell that this is really important to her, and we are so excited to continue to work with her. This week has been fun. I got a nice picture of a cross-eyed cat, but I can't send pictures today because the computer won't let me. Oh well, I'll try next time. I hope everyone has a good week.

Week 7--Bath Guyana

New Transfer, Elder Bigler--Week 1

Hello!

This week has been really interesting. Ever since Elder Bigler got here, our apartment has been malfunctioning. First, our water turned off for about three days. We had enough water to drink, though, so it was fine. Next our toilet broke. The guy who came over to fix it had to buy some parts, so he said he'd be back in twenty minutes. It's been 5 days... I think he flew out of the country. It has been pretty hilarious. We do have a nice bucket and the toilet in the other apartment is just a twenty minute bus ride away, so it has been really fun.  Then, the keys got lost in a taxi, and we had to break into our house by opening the window and using a wooden dowel to turn the door handle and unlock the door.  Luckily, the taxi driver saw the Rosignol missionaries and gave it to them, we can now get into our apartment without looking suspicious. This week has definitely been an adventure, but we've laughed a whole bunch about everything. We taught someone yesterday who couldn't really listen the whole time because her baby was being fussy, but when we told the Joseph Smith Story, her baby was quiet, and she was able to listen. When we asked her to pray about Joseph Smith, she said "I want to know." That was such a cool experience. We have been so lucky to not have Hurricane Irma destroy us. St. Maarten and St. Lucia got hit really hard, but we have been fine. It has been a great week, and I have loved being with Elder Bigler. He is from Salem, Utah, and has been a really good trainer so far. Anyways, I have loved this week, and I hope that all of you have a great week as well.

Week 6--Bath, Guyana

Elder Cook--Week 6

Hello!

This past week has been a good one. It was the last week in the transfer, so Elder Cook had to say goodbye to a lot of people. Mike was really sad to see him go. We got to go do service twice a week for the Narine Family.  The father is the branch president in our branch. The first time, we forked their garden. That was pretty cool. It took longer than it would with a tiller, but we had a good time. The second time, we got to go out in the bush (the jungle) with cutlasses to chop some branches for their shed over their garden. It was super cool. Now I've been in the rain forest. I saw a big centipede, but no monkeys. Oh well.  We got to swing cutlasses at pretty much whatever, and we got to cross some creeks. It was awesome. This morning, we woke up and there was a tarantula in our room. It was pretty big and scary, but we drowned it in bug killer, so it was fine. I will meet Elder Bigler tomorrow, and I will have to lead out the area, which is scary, but I know the Lord will help me to do my best. I am especially excited to work with Mike's wife. She is preparing for baptism, and we are trying to get her a date for the 30th of September, but we are so excited.
